GammaTiles are small collagen tiles embedded with radiation seeds that are placed at the site of a brain tumor immediately after it’s removed. The tiles provide constant, targeted radiation for brain tumors for up to two months. AdventHealth neurosurgeon Melvin Field, MD, and radiation oncologist Imran Mohiuddin, MD, performed the first GammaTile procedure in Central Florida in 2021.
Gamma Knife is considered the gold standard in minimally invasive, precision radiosurgery for specific disorders of the brain. AdventHealth is the only medical facility in Central Florida using this innovative, incision-less procedure. Our expert team of neurosurgeons have successfully completed over 5,000 Gamma Knife procedures since 1996.
Essential tremor or tremor-dominant Parkinson's patients can experience same-day hand tremor relief through this incision-less, outpatient procedure. AdventHealth is one of the first medical facilities in Florida to offer this innovative treatment.
